Dr. Daniel P. Secrest, DC and the health team at Secrest Family Chiropractic, PC, use a variety of services and techniques to reduce your pain. Our Graston Technique is beneficial to athletes and non-athletes alike. What makes it helpful for athletes is that it can eliminate scar tissue from old injuries causing pain and limiting range of motion.
Dr. Secrest, DC evaluates each condition and develops a chiropractic care plan based on your needs. He has seen success with the Graston Technique and incorporates it as one of his holistic approaches to healing. The Graston Technique is non-invasive and drug-free making it the perfect care package for our Scottsdale Chiropractor. Often used as an alternative to surgery, the Graston Technique is able to target new and old injuries, promote healing and speed your recovery time. For a few minutes a week with our Scottsdale chiropractor, you will see and feel the difference.
Our Scottsdale chiropractor uses a hands-on approach to caring for our patients. If you are new to chiropractic care, you may be surprised by the individual attention you receive. You are not just a number at Secrest Family Chiropractic, PC. We consider you part of our family and want you to have the best life possible. Our hands-on approach extends into the Graston Technique.
Dr. Secrest, DC uses stainless steel tools as an extension of his hands. He rubs the tool over tender areas to discover where tension or scar tissue is located. If you have tension or adhesions from previous injuries, Dr. Secrest, DC feels a change in the way the tool moves. For example, in a non-injured area, the tool will slide effortlessly over your muscles. If we encounter an injury, the tool may stick or stutter as Dr. Secrest, DC glides it across the muscle fibers. This occurs because injured fibers do not always repair in the same direction as healthy fibers. Our goal, is to break up this scar tissue or adhesion to restore your flexibility and reduce your pain.
You will be asked to warm up the affected area and we instruct you through exercises to increase circulation to the tight areas. Then, Dr. Secrest, DC uses the tool in a quick motion to alleviate the scar tissue and muscle tension. You will not feel any pain, but depending on the strength of the scar tissue, you may experience slight bruising after the treatment. Some tools require the use of one hand and Dr. Secrest, DC will provide precision pressure to the areas. Other tools we use require two hands and resemble the feeling of a rolling pin sliding down your muscles. Each tool is designed to reduce scar tissue and speed your recovery time.
Our Scottsdale chiropractor is excited to speak with you about the Graston Technique. He knows the success for athletes and weekend warriors that come from eliminating scar tissue and promoting healing. Please call us today at (480) 994-4411 to learn more.

Dr Secrest really cares about his patients. He resolved a 3 year headaches issue for one of my sons that all the other doctors couldn't and he's been fantastic working with my son with autism.
